Breaking Down EU's official PCI and PMI List: 14 CO2 Storage and Transport Projects including Prinos

The European Commission has selected 14 CO2 transport and storage projects as part of its last list of Projects of Common Interests (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs). This number illustrates the will of the EU institution to support CCS development, in line with the Net-Zero Industry Act’s objectives.

Projects labelled as PCI or PMI can enjoy several benefits, including the accelerated permitting process and environmental assessment, along with being eligibility to EU grants under the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy. The 14 selected projects include:

  • CO2 TransPorts – This project aims support CO2 capture, transport and storage from Rotterdam, Antwerp and the North Sea Port areas

  • Aramis – A cross-border CO2 transport and storage project, where CO2 will be captured from the Rotterdam harbour area, and transported for storage at the Dutch continental shelf
