CO2 storage was included in the trilateral cooperation between Greece - Cyprus - Egypt
Egypt, Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The Prime Minister Prime of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in the 10th Trilateral Summit of Greece - Egypt - Cyprus in Cairo along with the Cypriot President N. The leaders of Greece, Egypt and Cyprus are seeking to strengthen economic and strategic ties, as emerged from their statements (8.1.2025) during the 10th trilateral Summit they held in Cairo .


Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from Cairo, emphasized that the main goal remains to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, guided by national and European priorities.


The emphasis is on energy security, RES penetration and connections with the GREGY project that creates an energy bridge between the two continents. At the same time, CCS (CO2 capture and storage) is another promising market that will gain special importance and we can cooperate, the Prime Minister added.


Egyptian President Sisi described joint energy projects in the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, as well as interconnections, as essential. The aim is, among other things, to support energy security. In this context, he highlighted the memorandum of cooperation signed at a trilateral level, as well as the corresponding bilateral one with Cyprus.


Finally, Cypriot President N. Christodoulides stated that there is a common approach to energy cooperation and the exercise of sovereignty over maritime resources.
